Brazil's retail sales increased more-than-expected in January, data from the statistical office IBGE showed Friday.
Retail sales increased 7.3 percent annually in January, faster than the 6.7 percent growth seen in each of the previous two months. The latest figure exceeded economists' forecast for 6.1 percent growth.
Month-on-month, sales increased 2.6 percent, faster than the 1.7 percent growth economists expected. In December, sales grew 0.5 percent.
