Austria's industrial production decreased from last year in December, led by a sharp fall in energy output, data release by Statistics Austria showed Friday.
Production in Austrian industries, including construction activities, decreased a working-day adjusted 3.1 percent on an annual basis in December.
Energy production fell 8.9 percent annually in December, while production of durable consumer goods dropped 7 percent. There was a 1.8 percent annual decrease in the output of non-durable consumer goods. Meanwhile, production of capital goods advanced 6.4 percent year-on-year during the month.
Month-on-month, industrial output fell a seasonally adjusted 4.5 percent in December. In the whole of 2011, production decreased on average 5.6 percent from the previous year, the agency said.
